CARPENTRY AND POTTERY VILLAGE TOUR

Do you want to experience what local Vietnamese people really do during their every day life? Then this is the perfect tour for you! Explore our beautiful countryside while learning typical ways the local people live by coming on this tour which takes you to the Kim Bong Carpentry Village and the Thanh Ha Pottery Village.
Firstly, we will pick you up from your hotel and provide an outline of what the tour has in store for today. We will head to Kim Bong Carpentry Village which is located on the Cam Kim Island (approximately a 10-minute ferry ride or 15 minutes by bicycle from Hoi An Ancient Town). The village on this island was first built by the Northern Vietnamese in the 15th century. Once you step foot on the island you will be able to hear the endless chiseling, cutting and drilling from both the East and the West. Here, is where the workshops have been built and many skilled craftsmen work in these workshops to create beautiful furniture, sculptures as well as a range of tempting souvenirs. The best part is that these souvenirs can be shipped all over the world so you can purchase as much as you like! This island is also home to those building ships in Hoi An.
After visiting the island, we will then visit the Thanh Ha pottery village, which is situated 3km from Hoi An town. We will take a boat cruise along the river to reach the village, where you will have plenty of photo opportunities to see the lifestyle along the river. This village was also built in the late 15th century. The village is the main place for locals from Hoi An (and surrounding areas) to buy supplies for their houses including pottery, tiles and floor tiles for the old houses, etc. Here, you will discover the true art of pottery making from our local artisans who will demonstrate the way they use clay to make every day items such as pottery, utensils, tiles, vases and whistles etc. Once the artisans have finished their demonstration, you are more than welcome to have a go at making such items yourself.
